Troop 1323 News

Hello Troop 1323 Scouts and Parents:

No, my email still works, I have just had a lot going on and I know all of you have your troop calendars and have been marking changes as they have been announced. I also realize we all like reminders.

The Troop meeting program Monday, June 2 will be preparing for the Cima Summer camp. All Scouts attending that camp need to attend, as well as your parents. If you can’t attend, I will email out the handout with all the information. Your final payment will be due Monday night, as well.

If you aren’t going to Cima, you are welcome to come Monday meeting and work on advancements.

For everyone, medical forms and copy of health insurance cards (both sides) are due by June 23. Make your doctors appointments and please get them in ASAP. Remember, no current med form or insurance card, no summer camp and no weekend camping. Questions - contact Philip Binkley  s_bink (at) comcast (dot) net

At the canoe campout in April, a Scout did not get home with the legs of his Boy Scout pant Switchbacks. Anyone end up with an extra set?

Everyone have a good last week of school (a few of you are finished already).

May Troop News

Hello Scouts and Parents:

Hope all is well with you guys as the school year winds down. (It’s a little longer this year in case you hadn’t noticed.)

Here are some Scout reminders and information:

1. New Scout Campout is this weekend at the Scout House from Friday at 7 pm until 5 pm on Saturday. It’s for all the new Scouts, troop guides, and boy leadership. The new Scouts are the focus of the campout - there will be lots of games & competitions, and you will even learn some important camping and Scout skills. The permission slip is on the site and is due Monday (5/5/08). Some reminders:

a. Wear your FULL Class “A” uniform to the campout.

b. We’ll be sleeping outside, so bring your tents and standard camping gear. (Ask troop guide or Brandon if you’re not sure what standard camp gear is. Your own drinking cup is standard gear).

c. There will be a parents meeting from 7 until 8:30 pm. We do not want you to stay. There will be at least four trained and experienced adults in attendance. However, we do want you to return on Saturday by 4:30 pm for the awards ceremony and campfire, and to determine if your son grew some in 24 hours.

d. On Sunday after the campout, tell your Mom you love her, wash your own clothes, cook dessert for the family, and wash the dishes for your family.

2. Committee Meeting is this Tuesday (5/6/08) at 7:30 pm at the Scout House. ALL parents are encouraged to attend. You can help make our troop even better. Attached is the agenda.

3. Order of the Arrow Ordeal is May 16-18 at Bovay. Candidates - if you have mailed in your application, money, and med forms - good for you! If you haven’t, do it this week. Make sure you give Mr. Neiman a copy of your application so he knows you’re going and can organize transportation.

4. O.A. members - We need you to help at the Ordeal May 16- 19 as an elangamat. Tell Mr. Nieman if you are willing to help and fill out the application that is online at the Lodge website ASAP.

5. A separate summer camp email will be sent out later this week after the Committee approves the final costs Tuesday night.

Since I opened with a school theme … Boys, school comes first, especially this time of year. The Cub Scout motto still applies - DO YOUR BEST!
